Gang of assailants injures 2 brothers

Hispanic group of males, females attacked them

Two Sunnyvale brothers were injured by an unknown number of assailants Wednesday night in Mountain View.

One victim, 19, suffered several lacerations that required stitches when he was hit over the head with a pool cue. The second brother, 21, received multiple light cuts and a seven-inch gash on his arm after being attacked with a knife.

The victims, along with four friends, were on the 2600 block of North Shoreline Boulevard about 7 p.m. when a large group of Hispanic males and females approached and attacked them. The four friends fled and called 911 about 20 minutes later. Paramedics took the two brothers to a local hospital.

The assailants fled in at least one car, described as a gray or silver sedan, Mountain View police spokeswoman Elizabeth Wylie said. Wylie said the attack could be gang-related, though the two brothers have no known gang affiliations. No additional motives for the attack are known at this time, Wylie said.

She added that the department is not releasing the color of clothing worn by the assailants, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with additional information, or who may have witnessed the attack, is asked to call the Mountain View Police Department at 650-903-6344.
