Conceived by the unlikely duo of former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno and Nashville indie singer/songwriter Ed Pettersen, "Songs of America" is a remarkable assemblage of American music. Grammy-winning producer David Macias helped bring the project to fruition. Included are well-known tunes as well as incredibly obscure ones. You'll find Bettye LaVette singing Bruce Springsteen and John Mellencamp breathing life into a Woody Guthrie tune. The three disc-set spans the nation's earliest days to the present. An amazing array of performers contribute.
